Mounting Services
Mounting is available for most common photo sizes on Styrene or Gator Board. Not all sizes are available on all substrates.
Mounting Substrates
.040 Styrene Styrene is a thin white plastic material that is our least expensive mounting option. It is roughly 2 Millimeter thick. It has a completely smooth surface. This option is great for many uses as it easily can fit in a frame.
Gator Board is 3/16" thick, it is similar to Foam Core, except that it is stiffer and has a laminate backing which seals the board from moisture and makes it so that it does not warp like Foam Core. It is not as easy to cut as foam core, but it can be done. Gator Board is black.
Please note we use precut mount board that comes in certain sizes - these sizes have the best price. We can do other sizes, but we have to cut down the boards to do that which makes them more expensive. We normally stock 8x10, 11x14, 12x18, 16x20, 20x30 and 24x36. So for example an 11x17 that needs mounting is more than a 12x18. Please keep this in mind when ordering.
When mounting prints it is not uncommon for us to need to trim an edge or two which can result in the finished mounted print being slightly smaller than the original size. We try to keep this to a minimum and almost always less than 1/4" smaller on either side. If your mounted print must be exactly to size please let us know in advance. Keep in mind that the actual boards we use are precut to be slightly smaller than the print.

What is the turnaround time for Mounted prints?
Mounting usually adds 1 day to the turnaround for whatever print you are ordering.
How do I order Mounting for my print?
Mounting is an option that shows up when you add an item to the shopping cart. If a size you order has mounting available when you are in the cart there will be an Options button that you can click to see the available options.
Which is the best substrate?
That depends on what you are doing. If you are going to frame the print, we think Styrene is the best - it is very thin and should fit in any frame with the frame backing. Gator Board is best if you are going to display your print without a frame - it does not warp. Gator Board can also be framed, but it is 3/6" thick so you likely will not be able to use the backing that came with the frame (sometimes the backing has the hanging hardware).
Shipping Info
Mounted prints that are 16x20 and smaller usually still qualify for our flat rate shipping. Anything larger adds to the cost of the shipping and may need to be calculated after you order.
